The length of your table runner is up to you, but a general rule of thumb is that the table runner should be 1/3 the width of your table and overhang the ends 6 to 10 inches.
For example, if your table is 42 inches wide x 60 inches long, the table runner should be approximately 14 inches wide x 72 to 80 inches long.
